General Information — Cultivating Mindfulness and Compassion
Compassion Cultivation training - CCT©
is an eight week course developed by Stanford University's School of Medicine, Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). The program is designed to develop the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness for oneself and for others. CCT™ integrates traditional contemplative practices with contemporary psychology and scientific research on compassion. CCT is an educational program designed to help you improve your resilience and feel more connected to others – ultimately providing an overall sense of well-being. The CCT protocol was developed by a team of contemplative scholars, clinical psychologists, and researchers and the CCT Teacher Training program developed in collaboration with the Compassion Institute (CI) USA by Thupten Jinpa, the Dalai Lama's principal translator plus other founding faculty members.
Merlene is a certified Compassion Cultivation Teacher with Stanford University’s School of Medicine Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) in collaboration with the Compassion Institute USA.

She has a Postgrad Dip in MBI Mindfulness Based Interventions and is certified to teach the MBSR Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program.
Merlene is a Mindfulness and Compassion educator and offers the certified 8 week CCT Compassion Cultivation training classes; Mindfulness and Compassion Based intensive workshops plus meditation sessions.
Merlene is a passionate mental health advocate with a strong interest in well-being and compassion in the workplace and making contemplative practices accessible and practical in today’s fast pace world recognising the value in dealing with transformation, resilience, stress, engagement and well being.
Merlene is a life-long learner and believes that awareness, honesty, kindness and compassion are the most powerful forces in the world.
